As a study group we would like to explore co-teaching more in depth and specifically focus on math. We would like to explore the issue of grading students with disabilities. By the end of our study group this year, we would like to explore what co-teaching approaches work well in the math classroom. We would like to develop a grading policy for students with disabilities in the math classroom.
Purpose
To read How to Differentiate Instruction in Mixed-Ability Classrooms by Carol Ann Tomlinson, discuss the book, select those strategies which best fit the needs of our students and field test those strategies, with follow-up discussions
To read Co-Teach! A Handbook for Creating and Sustaining Effective Classroom Partnerships in Inclusive Schools by Marilyn Friend, discuss the book, select those strategies which best fit the needs of our students and field test those strategies, with follow-up discussionsSince the educational needs of our students vary considerably as does the type of instruction which best serves those needs, effective differentiated instruction, along with optimal co-teaching strategies, is essential.
